Hi, I’m Brad and I’m obsessed with photography. I’m a self taught photographer who specializes in a wide variety of photography, from landscapes to portraiture. If you want to know more about why I love photography so much, just keep reading. Otherwise, enjoy the pictures and shoot me an email, I’d love to hear from you!
Like most kids, my mom gave me my first camera. It was a bright yellow underwater film camera. You had to advance each exposure by pushing a lever on the back, and use a series of snaps and cranks to seal the camera from the water. I was nine years old and my little yellow buddy was my companion on many adventures. I remember sloshing the camera around in many on Utah’s various streams, snapping pictures and anticipating the results. Being able to see the world from such a unique perspective laid the foundation for my photography later in life.
I’ve continued to take pictures throughout most of my life. Being a self-taught photographer has given me the freedom to explore photography according to my evolving interests. Having been raised by outdoor enthusiasts, my experiences naturally drew me toward landscape photography. I spent countless hours wandering the wildernesses of Utah, trying and searching for something unique, something that perhaps no one else has ever seen. This feeling of discovery and expression was the initial driving force in my photography. I love shooting landscapes, but I always felt like something was missing. What was missing for me was the human connection.
I guess you could say that I’m a herd animal, meaning that I feel most comfortable around other people. This interaction has naturally drawn me toward portraiture. In my portraits I strive to go beyond capturing a person’s likeness. I endeavor to capture a person’s essence, that is, what makes them unique and loved. To do this I use a variety of lighting and on-location techniques that move my pictures beyond that of a simple capture. My photography continues to evolve and I love every minute of it. Thanks for checking out my website, I hope you enjoy the pictures, and I look forward to meeting you.
